Dry eye syndrome is a condition where the body is not able to produce enough tears to protect the front surface of the eye which in turn causes reduced quality of vision. There are a variety of factors that can cause dry eye syndrome including arid environments, hormone changes, allergies, eye surgery, medications and prolonged periods of reading or computer work. Patients with dry eye syndrome often experience blurred or fluctuating vision, itchy, gritty or burning red eyes.
